Drug abuse problem
According to the World Drug Report 2022, about 300 million people worldwide had abused drugs in 2022, which means about one in every 26 people did. Among these, more than 36 million suffer from drug abuse disorders, these people have serious problems of reliance on drugs. The number of drug users has increased by 22 per cent compared to 2010, which shows the increasing trend of drug problems. Worryingly, around 200,000 people died due to drug abuse in 2022, highlighting the serious consequences of drug abuse, including health problems, criminal behaviour and social disruption.
At present, the global drug problem is still very serious, and the joint efforts of the international community are needed to prevent drug abuse from causing more damage and loss of life. Drug abuse testing is one of the important measures to deal with drug problems, which can help to identify and intervene in drug use problems, detect drug abusers in early stage, provide corresponding treatment and rehabilitation support, and help them to quit drug addiction and reintegrate into society.
Drug abuse tests can detect a variety of common drugs, such as KET, THC, MOP, COC, MET, and MDMA. By detecting the metabolites of drugs in the body or the presence of drugs themselves, it is possible to determine whether a person has a drug abuse problem.
Wizbiotech has developed six POCT drug abuse detection products, which have the advantages of being fast, simple, convenient to carry and high accuracy, and are widely used in drug rehabilitation centers, hospitals, military recruitment, customs border inspection and highway traffic safety in high-risk population screening, special industries and job screening. Wizbiotech is also working with the international community to promote the development and application of drug abuse testing and contribute to the building of a drug-free society.
