Sepsis: a common but underappreciated malady
Sepsis is a multi-organ dysfunction caused by the uncontrolled systemic inflammatory response caused by infection. When an infection occurs, the body's immune system releases inflammatory mediators, such as cytokines and chemical mediators, to fight the infection. However, in some cases, the immune system's response can be overly aggressive, leading to systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). SIRS can lead to a series of serious complications such as decreased blood pressure, blood clot formation, duct leakage, and tissue damage. Early diagnosis and active management are key. Continuous monitoring of the disease, active anti-infective treatment, and support of vital signs are also crucial.
At present, CRP、PCT、SAA, and IL-6 are all known markers of inflammation and infection that can be detected and monitored for sepsis. Combined detection of multiple markers of inflammation and infection can better identify infection types and contribute to early diagnosis and prognosis of infectious diseases and sepsis.
WIZ has developed Diagnostic Kit for C-reactive protein and Diagnostic Kit for Serum Amyloid A, Diagnostic Kit for Interleukin-6 (all performed by the Fluorescence Immunochromatographic Assay), and also launches a combo test package to meet the needs of users.
