Slow down kidney damage in diabetes patients
World Diabetes Day is observed on November 14th each year. It is a globally recognized awareness campaign led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and supported by the World Health Organization (WHO). The theme for this year is “Access to Diabetes Care”.
Diabetes is a chronic medical condition that occurs when the body is unable to properly regulate blood sugar levels. According to the IDF data, it was estimated that approximately 537 million adults (aged 20-79) were living with diabetes worldwide. If diabetes is not properly managed, it can lead to various complications, including cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, nerve damage (neuropathy), eye damage (retinopathy), foot problems, and skin conditions. It is essential to control blood sugar levels to minimize the risk of complications.
The kidney complication of diabetes is called diabetic nephropathy. At the early stage, there is no obvious symptoms to identify kidney damage in diabetes patients. However, microalbuminuria can be used for early detection of kidney damage in people with diabetes. It can identify kidney dysfunction before symptoms become apparent and help initiate timely interventions to slow down or prevent further progression of diabetic nephropathy.
Based on above, WIZ BIOTECH had developed the Diagnostic Kit for Urine microalbumin which can be used as a tool to help clinicians to identify kidney damage for patients at earlier stage.
