What is Bo Bing?
"Bo Bing," a traditional game with origins in the Southern Fujian region of China, particularly in the Minnan area, involves the use of dice to determine winners of mooncakes, a traditional festival delicacy. The game mirrors the ranking system of the ancient imperial examination, with titles such as "Zhuangyuan" (top scholar), "Duitang" (runner-up), "Sanhong" (third place), "Sijin" (advanced scholar), "Erju" (recommended man), and "Yixiu" (talented youth). The game is played with six dice, and the outcome is read as a prediction of good fortune for the coming year, especially for those who win the "Zhuangyuan" prize.
