WIZ adds a new product certificate

23-07-2024

Warm congratulations! Another blockbuster product from WIZ, the diagnostic Kit for Heparin Binding Protein (Fluorescence Immunochromatographic Assay), has been approved by Malaysia's medical device regulator MDA.

Project introduction

Heparin-binding protein (HBP), also known as azocyanin or CAP37, is a granular protein secreted primarily by neutrophils[1]. Neutrophils are degranulated after activation, that is, HBP is released [2].When acute bacterial infections occur, the concentration of HBP in the blood can be significantly increased within 1-2h, while the HBP is not increased or slightly increased in viral infections. HBP can also be used as a causative agent, and when patients receive effective treatment, HBP concentration decreases quickly. Therefore, the detection of HBP content in the blood of patients can assist clinical diagnosis of acute bacterial infection, judgment of infection severity and monitoring of antibiotic efficacy. Compared with other infectious disease indicators currently used, HBP is more closely related to bacterial infection, and has important clinical value for early warning, prediction and evaluation of infectious diseases and observation of curative effect [3].

Clinical application of HBP

1. Auxiliary diagnosis and differential diagnosis of infectious diseases

2. Evaluation of infection severity

3. Auxiliary diagnosis of sepsis

4. Prognosis assessment of sepsis

5. Identify local areas of infection

6. Instruct drug use

Applicable medical departments of HBP
